DANCER PORTFOLIO TIPS

Your dance portfolio is your first audition. Casting directors decide whether to call you in based on your video reel. Here is how to make it count.

Lead with your best work. Your first video should showcase your strongest style at your highest energy. Casting directors spend 10-15 seconds before deciding — make those seconds count.

Show versatility. Include clips in at least 2-3 different styles. If you can do Bollywood AND hip-hop AND contemporary, show all three. Versatile dancers get more bookings.

Production quality matters. You do not need a professional studio — but good lighting, a clean background, and decent audio make a huge difference. Film in landscape mode with your full body visible.

Keep it current. Update your Nriv portfolio every 2-3 months with fresh content. An outdated reel signals inactivity to casting directors.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long should my dance reel be?+
Keep your main reel between 60-90 seconds. You can add individual full-length performances separately on your Nriv profile.
What should I include in my dance portfolio?+
Your best choreography clips, freestyle pieces, any professional performance footage, and behind-the-scenes content showing your personality.
Do I need a professional videographer?+
No. A smartphone with good lighting and a stable angle is enough. Focus on your dancing, not the production value.
